THE VILLAGE is a balanced, mature, and carefully built work. Unlike some of my more material-heavy or explosive paintings, this piece is shaped more by structure, color, and spatial division. The textured yellow band across the center plays an important role, functioning almost like a boundary or a line of life between the deep blue upper field and the earthy red ground below.
What gives the painting its strength is the way it holds landscape memory and abstraction together. It does not depict a village literally, yet it carries the emotional and spatial presence of one.
